The face is divided into natural thirds and all paintings drawn by Leonardo da Vinci maintain this yardstick. The lowest third id the part of the face from the lowest point of the nose to the lowest point of the chin. The middle third is that from the lowest point of the nasal tip upwards to the midpoint where the inner edges of the eyebrows would meet just above the root of the nose. To draw the hairline, mark the same distance from this last point upwards towards the forehead. Now make a point one centimeter behind this point. This is the hairline which would be esthetically pleasing for all times to come.
